Celebrities Run Amuck

Last monday I sat with a glass of Chardonnay trying to get my weekly Adrenaline rush from watching Jack’s escapades on 24. A strange involuntary hissing sound coming from my lips each time Janeane Garafolo’s character Janis Gold appeared greatly diminished my viewing pleasure. Why this week? We are at a critical point in the season, 2-3:00 a.m. The die hard fans are trying to figure out how Tony Almeida could possibly betray Jack in this way, or his country for that matter. Janeane just had to go all newspastic at this important juncture in the season.

I figure this strange hissing phenomenon is due to the damage that my limbic system may have incurred by attending the recent Tea Party Rally. This is according to Dr Janeane
Garafolo who claims I would think just like her if I had not suffered neurological impairment. She also is gravely concerned that my friend who went to the rally with me may be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome (according to Dr Janeane is the only logical explanation for a black persons joining the protest). Just when I thought she was really concerned for our health she did the most surprising thing on Keith Olberman’s show on MSNBC last week. I would provide a link to that particular clip but can’t stand the thought of either of them getting any more viewing time so google it if you must.

She said people at the rally were all a bunch of redneck teabaggers. Maybe this mediahloic couple think they are all too cool for school in trying to ridicule us on the sly using sexual double entendres. (Let’s see, what’s that called when you judge a whole group of people?) And that was one of the nicer things they said that day on his show. As a matter of fact Janeane said by attending these rallies or supporting them in any way made us racists practicing “pure straight up racism” because we are disagreeing with our new half black/half white president.

I hadn’t let Ms. Garafolo’s presence this season bother me even though I knew she was purported to be an outspoken cantankerous activist. It’s one thing to be upset by your government, it’s a whole different enchilada to have to watch her boring, inept computer geek character Janis slog along when we are thinking, Chloe, for God’s sake get in there and help Jack save the USA. We all know if there’s ever a showdown between the 2 ladies that Chloe will totally kick her sideways to Sunday.

Ms. Garafolo claims to be operating at a higher intellectual level than us normal folk, that’s why she can pronounce judgement as to the mental capacity and health of Tea Party participants without ever meeting any of them. However, I think we may have to question her intelligence for her choice to go on a very public rant against many of her show’s fan base. Not to mention her ridicule of Fox News. Maybe she doesn’t realize that her show is on Fox, meaning that’s where her paycheck comes from?

I will continue watching 24 as usual. I’m sure I will get over that whole hissing response thing by the next show. I’m not even going to email the show to complain. I have faith that the writers will find a way to get old Janis’ butt in the line of fire before the season is out.

I saw that clip of her on MSNBC. It was incredible, outrageous. Of course, my limibic system has been compromised so, at least according to her, I'm not qualfied to venture an opinion.

I detest "celebrities" who think they're intellectuals. Show me your degree, jerk-face. When you've spent as many years in school as I have, MAYBE you have a right to tell me you're an intellectual.

Plus, even intellectuals can be UNINFORMED. Like celebrities trying to understand ECONOMICS.

Racism? People who will support our president JUST BECAUSE he's black are the WORST racists. It's not about color, stupid. It's about policy. Get a grip.

Mayor - I can't comment on your blog post today bc I detest Fox News and don't want to start a fight with you. U of C hasn't turned me into a right wing wonky yet...although they sure are trying. I will let you know when I slip over onto the dark side, then we can be tea baggers together. :)

Saw Jamie Foxx on Regis and Kelly this morning. He was (still) talking about the inauguration and mentioned all the celebrieties that were attending with him. He also was able to ask Ron Howard and a host of others to be in his music video. Everyone said "yes" because of the celebratory mood. Talk about networking.

The man can sing, and act for sure. They make their living, after all, pretending to be other people. While that is an art, a craft, and is not a bad way to make mega bucks and think you are very self -important. But it does not qualify them to judge everyone who does not agree with them.

I don't think it makes them the best judge of political candidates.

The thing that so many haven't figured out (I am not saying they are stupid, just they they seem to not have noticed) is that we have a party in control that wants to dictate everything to all of citizens (peons, really, make make that terribly ignorant ones at that). While "they" fly around in private planes, live in fabulous homes, are driven around in huge (inefficient! polluting! big carbon footprint!) limos and want want us to turn out every light in our house, drive tiny (dangerous!) cars (only when we can't walk, that is), share a larger chunk of what little we have worked so hard for and be happy that we live in a "free" country.

I pray for those in power and respect the office they hold. I just worry when I hear about a poor dear man, appointed CFO of Fannie Mac in September, who committed suicide because he couldn't put Humpty Dumpty together again. So who will put our country's finances back together after we have spent money we don't have, inflation hits big time, unemployment is rampant. Who?

I know that God is in control. I am grateful because I sure am too dumb (read that "redneck", ignorant, etc.) to figure this all out. I am praying and praying that everyone else is also. We do truly need all the help we can get. God help us!!!
