Champagne + Rock Band= Dance Fever

So it's been brought to my attention that I've been a little lazy and inattentive in not sharing our Christmas activites with the curious. I would have to agree, with the end of January approaching that this would be the last possible week to be reliving the holidays so I'll try to climb out of the stupor that comes with insomnia.

As tradition has it, we began with Christmas Eve at our home and there were about 16 of us all together. This year we decided on a grazing menu featuring a classic cheese fondue ala Rachel Ray.

  • MENU
  • Cheese fondue with breads, veggies, sausage and fruit.
  • Loaded hummus dip & shrimp cocktails
  • Beef Tenderloin on hard rolls
  • Homemade chicken tenders with basil cream dipping sauce.
  • Apple Pie, Pecan Pie and Rob's hot fudge sauce.
  • White Cranberry Winter Martinis

We all talked about how we really want to plan a holiday trip somewhere warm and fun next year. The weather was acting up so the celebration wore itself out early on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately Pastry Chef Princess had to work that evening at a swanky Detroit restaurant.

She was quite upset that everyone was semi-comatose by the time she got home. It was gravely disappointing to her that by 10 pm everyting had been cleaned up, stored and half the gang were already in bed. When we persuaded her to get up Christmas morning she was still holding a grudge, which led to a rather ho hum present opening...until we got our groove going with ROCK BAND.

Did you notice "I am still so pissed off" look she was indulging in? So we broke out the Champagne and whipped up some chef's special coffee drinks. Of course we put a little Justin Timberlake on the overhead speakers, had rock band going in the family room and a woop woopin dance party ensued all while we fixed an awesome Christmas Brunch of Bacon, sausages, biscuits, and veggie loaded eggs.

We topped that all of with more Champagne and especial cafe and continued to wear the floor out dancing, carrying on and tormenting the beast of a dog who lives with us. We more than made up for our sedate Christmas Eve by partying like rock stars thanks to Rock Band and copious amounts of Champagne.

Like I've said there is never a shortage of excitement at our house when we are all together. It's even better when we are all in an enhanced mood.

Who's your mama? Where's your daddy? When did they learn how to shake their booty in that fashion? Is there any responsible adult around here in all this chaos?

We partied all morning and had to take naps before heading out to our dinner party. Birthday girl, family fashionista princess #4 was the drumming queen in her very chic Kate Spade Zzzz boots. We tried to give her some extra lovin, the Christmas birthday kind of stinks. Princess #2 and #5 ruled on vocals while Princess #3 rocked the guitar and saved our game many times that day.

That's all folks! Hopefully next Christmas we can kick it up a notch by celebrating somewhere warm and sunny, and we can say, "We'll take another Mojito, por favor!"
